By profession I am an economist from University of Copenhagen, Denmark. I have spent my whole professional career working with development.
Starting in 1979 with participating in building a primary school and a health centre in rural Kenya, working for United Nations in Uganda and Kenya from 1989 to 1992, and since as a development economist and consultant.
I have been Partner and Managing Director in a Danish based consulting company, and I have worked in the Middle East, Africa South of Sahara, East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia and the republics of the former Sovjetunion.
Sectors covered include energy, water and sanitation, agriculture, business and private sector development, finance, technical education and vocational training, telecommunication, environment and climate.
I undertake consulting assignments, teaching and participate in the public debate on development issues through discussions and writing of papers and articles, most recently through publishing a book on eradication of absolute poverty.
I am chairman of a NGO, Build One City, collecting funds in Denmark for supporting broad based development in rural areas of Burundi.
